Lescar Jazz - Assembly Trio

On Thursday 26th August we’re really pleased to bring to Yellow Arch Studios a brand new Sheffield-based line-up, Assembly Trio, with a classic, but also distinctive guitar/bass/drums sound.

Assembly Trio’s music is strongly interactive, thoughtful and conversational, ranging from spacious and explorative originals with unexpected twists, to their own arrangements of some carefully selected jazz standards.

They feature Alex Bishop on guitar, Ben Evans on bass, and Will Shaw on drums, three musicians who know each other well from this and a range of other line-ups over the last few years. In particular you may have caught Ben and Will playing in Life Aquatic Band, and all three playing in the Cesca Grace Quartet. Will is also part of a harp/drums duo balo, and Alex featured in the wonderful Sheffield Indian Music Ensemble gig at The Lescar a couple of years ago.

This will be their first live gig with this trio, after a really wonderful livestream that they performed for us during Lockdown, so we’re really delighted to make this live gig happen! Please join us at Yellow Arch Studios to celebrate both this and to support some of the best musicians emerging from the Sheffield music jazz scene.

Pop down early for a drink at Yellow Arch’s lovely courtyard bar before the gig at 7pm, doors to the gig will open at 8.15pm, and the music starts at 8.45pm. Tickets are £10.
