Christmas Brew - Charity Event

To celebrate the end of 2026, our final show brings together 2 of our favourite artists for a very special charity evening in aid of West Mercia Search and Rescue and their "Home and Dry" Christmas campaign. We hope to raise £1000 to fund 2 evenings of their seasonal patrols along the Loop of the river.

The first half of the show will be performed by our resident Comedy Club MC, Danny McLoughlin. Already acclaimed for his hilarious crowd work every month at Mad Jack's Comedy Club, this special evening will also include some of his classic 'Stand Up' routine.

The second half sees Shrewsbury favourite Dan Owen perform his Blues classics, Songwriter hits and maybe a few 'singalong' seasonal bangers!

Christmas Brew will be a great night of great entertainment in aid of a great cause!

West Midlands Search & Rescue - Play a part in ensuring partygoers in Shrewsbury get “Home & Dry” this Christmas.

West Mercia Search and Rescue are operating River Safety Patrols over 3 weekends before Christmas. They are a totally volunteer team, who have to find all their funding to stay operational.

Each year they look for local support for their River Safety Patrols, to cover vehicle, fuel, and operational costs so that the team can focus on giving their time and expertise to the serious business of educating party-goers and saving lives. The night-time economy of Shrewsbury is strung out along the river and the blend of alcohol, young people and partying leads to numerous incidents, both accidental and intentional, that involve people in the water.

The dare-devil jump off the bridge, the drunken slip down the bank, the jokey push that leads to loss of balance and immersion. These may all seem fun in the summer but in December water temperatures are likely to mean you will last only a couple of minutes before you are unable to help yourself.

They work with a number of local organisations including the Police, the Council and the Street Pastors and in previous years they have pulled people from the river, stopped people weaving their way towards danger, helped the police make sure an inebriated person was safely collected, and visited the pubs to spread the word of the “Home & Dry” project.
