Lescar Jazz Presents - Svarc Hanley Longhawn

Thursday 15th July, 8.15pm: Svarc Hanley Longhawn

"We’re back with our first indoors gig since last March, and the first of a series at Yellow Arch Studio with such a great trio. From the vibrant Leeds jazz and improvised music scene, the long-standing line up of Nik Svarc (guitar), Steve Hanley (drums) and Martin Longhawn (keyboards) bring a classic line-up and a heavy but also nuanced, expressive and melodic layering of fusion, jazz, rock and funk. 

Nik Svarc is one of the most individual and experienced guitarists on the Northern jazz scene, having played at festivals and venues across the UK and in Europe, and has worked with the likes of Dave Hassell, Tim Lefebvre, and Scott Devine, as well as a great trio with Garry Jackson and Dave Walsh, SvarcTrio. Steve Hanley has played so many times at The Lescar, a wonderful creative and subtle, yet also powerful drummer, you may have seen him playing with Family Band, Universal Time, and Perpetual Motion Machine. Martin Longhawn is one of the most in demand keyboard players around, and in this band brings the driving sound of the Hammond sound right into the present. A band with influences from a classic sound, but with a wholly identifiable and contemporary stamp of its own.
