From one milestone to another. As we celebrate 5 years in the basement we call upon a pioneer no stranger to securing a lasting legacy with a brand withstanding the test of time. DJ, producer and cultural inspiration Danny Rampling was one of the first ‘Superstar DJs’ and remains a true pioneer and visionary of the global dance scene. As our 5 lends stage to his 30 year anniversary we bundle a whole heap of positive energy for this incredible instalment of our journeys so far.
Through his legendary Acid House club Shoom in the 1980s and his Radio shows with BBC Radio 1 and Kiss FM, Danny became a catalyst that helped to shape the UK dance scene right from the early days. He has sold over a million compilation albums and has picked up many awards as well as regularly being called upon as an authority for his unrivalled music knowledge and expertise. Been there, done that, bought the acid house t-shirt is kind of based on his exploits.
Danny has held legendary and much talked about DJ residences in Ibiza at venues such as Pacha, Amnesia, and Privilege, lending his hand to help shape the musical landscape of the White Isle we know today. He is held in high regard from both sides of the booth as a DJ, producer, and fan favourite.
“Out of respect for Johnny Walker, Paul Oakenfold, Nicky Holloway, Danny Rampling and all the people who gave us these times.” The Streets, Weak become heroes, 2002.
With Mike Skinner taking centre stage for our 2nd birthday it feels fitting to be inviting an artist who left an impression on him, along with a wave of creative influence, and experiential nostalgia. A passing of the torch and nod to a true UK pioneer held in high regard across the globe. He will be joined by MSA co-founder Steven Dunn, and basement frequent flyers Ryan Moscrop & Ben Caldwell.
Tickets will be incredibly limited and priced for party not for profit. This is a celebration not cash in.
Expect to be part of history. This will be one for the books.
