MSA, our vision of what a music venue ought to be. Intimate, personal, & credible with emphasis on all the things we look out for when travelling to our favourite cities across the world. Our simple mantra Music Slash Art outlines a bespoke underground space, a blank canvas for some of the most celebrated ‘outsider’ artists on the planet, contrasted against design classics and service policy second to none. We use the word ‘content’ with a sense of pride with both the venue itself and the music policy we implement throughout our weekly programme carefully constructed to maximise experience. As much a home to the hard working professional, the self made creative, and the aspiring student we offer a refuge, an alternative, and a stimulation of the senses that may have become more suited following like-minded experiences. Our creation is the culmination of miles travelled and years spent, of experiences had and the experiences we are yet to enjoy. MSA is the sum of our passions, the sound of our heartstrings, and our soul on the wall.

The details. A two tier basement in essence. Split between two bars and an array of inviting seating we set our stage. Catering comfortably for no more than three hundred people we strive towards quality over quantity. From afternoon wifi and coffee, after work hours cocktails, evening endeavours, and late night escapades we adhere to our customers every need.

Hiring our space. We make our venue available for a whole host of occasions. Be it a special occasion, a creative space for your next managers meeting, or simply fresh alternative to your boardroom. With various catering links and an all round blank canvas here nothing is impossible. MSA is as much yours is it is ours.

Day. A refreshing, open, vibrant space to grab some great coffee and hammer out that niggling email. We provide a comfortable setting to wind down on an afternoon, sink some fantastic drinks, or get started on the weekend. Our day trade offers the peoples jukebox, a selection of songs suggested by everyday Newcastle heroes and industry heavyweights.

Night. We present a multi-functioning space, just as much at home catering for bespoke events and music acts as it is serenading the cities social movers. With engineered sound we create the party or get you in the right frame of mind for yours. We place emphasis on experience be it in a dark corner or on the dance floor.

Ancient History. MSA is an extension of Unit44. The creative studio and gallery within the Hoults Yard has long been the home to all the artists who now grace our city centre venue walls. Unit44 is proud to work with the likes of Red Bull, Sound Channel, Unknown Festival, Kopparberg, Brooklyn Beer, Shindig, and a whole host of international music talent. It’s this fuel and fire that culminates in MSA.
