A thrilling line-up at this month's Folkroom Brighton brings three unmissable acts to the Folklore Rooms. Entry is free, so come and discover some of the most exciting new music around.
WISE WOMAN - 'Power folk' isn't a genre name that gets thrown around a lot, but four-piece Wise Woman have earned the right to claim it for themselves. Their music is big, rich and evocative - built around breath-taking harmonies and cinematic instrumentation. The Staves crossed with Fleet Foxes, but also somehow so much more than that.https://wisewoman.bandcamp.com/track/fen-woman
CORI NORA - A huge talent on the verge of something spectacular, we've had an early listen to Cori Nora's debut album and it is an embarrassment of riches. Esoteric, but infinitely listenable, she reminds us a little of PJ Harvey, her music distant and yet so, so personal. If you first discovered Sophie Jamieson at a Folkroom gig, come and discover a new favourite in Cori Nora.
JOEY MACPHAIL - Rounding out a pitch-perfect line-up is Joey Macphail, whose music won us over the second we heard her debut single, Fun & Games. The ideal way to start an evening of big ideas and excellent music that explores every corner of what it is to be a folk artist in 2023.https://soundcloud.com/joeymacmusic/fun-games-live
Folkroom's monthly gigs at The Folklore Rooms are free entry, but we'll always make it easy to donate to the artists to further support them.
