Cheap Teeth’s aim is to write songs that are in equal measure structurally and lyrically experimental as they are melodic. They done a cohesive yet diverse catalogue, and in recent years have taken it to the road more than ever. Their jaunty stage presence has kept the crowds of their characterful, high-energy live shows on their toes. The commonality between all of their songs stems from both their willingness to wear their late 70’sNew York style influences on their sleeve, and to simultaneously inflict their distinctly swanky stamp upon any music they birth. A stamp dipped in the ink of raspy, catchy vocals, pressed down by the hand of wonky, yet concisely laid down licks from the guitars and bass, gripping the handle of a drum beat that swings one minute and straightens up the next, resulting in what Steve Lamacq coined as sounding, “like Nick Cave doing the conga”.
