K-Trap

When K-Trap entered the UK music scene, he was shrouded in mystery. Donning a mask that he kept on until 2019, his opaque appearance made his raps stop you in your tracks. Real, visceral and unmistakably authentic, Trap channelled the harsh concrete confines of his South London milieu and transmitted reports from the streets in song, geared towards fans of ‘real rap’ and, slowly but surely, the bright lights of the UK mainstream. Drill was his homebase which, at the time, was a perfect terrain as the murky sound grew legs and became a sonic standard bearer for the scene.
