Join us on the 9th September at The Harley for a once in a lifetime journey in music history:

The day will begin with an exclusive vinyl set delivered by the one and only BUDHOOVER; Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, BUDHOOVER sets the tone with his latest signature ‘story-telling’ DJ set, this time consisting of historically significant music hailing from South Africa.

This event was born of deep childhood memories of the sounds heard in Africa before moving to the UK at a young age, resulting in a passionate curiosity for the country’s music history throughout life, and a beautiful collection of vinyl records never before played in a public setting.

Some of the sounds you will hear throughout the event were recorded at the height of apartheid in South Africa, taking you on a journey from the genre KWAITO (instruments include boots, pans, spoons and pretty much anything available to the heavily oppressed people of Soweto at the time) to the free Nelson Mandela movement, to the end of apartheid, bringing you all the way to modern day Ampiano music.

This will be followed by live DJ performances constructed of modern ampiano, afrobeats & afrohouse recorded all over the world, with original music inspired and created by local Sheffield families, friends and community members: ANEKAE, DONNIE & MAMPI.

Which conveniently brings us to the latest part of our AFRO BRUNCH journey;

Locally based artist FUNGI is bringing his fresh out the box debut Ampiano EP LAUNCH to The Harley!

We feel extremely privileged to have such talent within the walls of the harley and to be the first to hear his latest production.

Anyone who has encountered FUNGI, knows that wherever he is, he comes with an unwavering smile, unstoppable energy and brings extreme heat to all his performances, this is not one to be missed!!!

Finally, we’re sure that with FUNGI’s smooth sounds and a healthy portion from KEISHA’S KITCHEN (TOP QUALITY AFRO-CARIBBEAN-ENGLISH CUISINE), you’re guaranteed to be dancing well into the night.
