NI MAXINE

Hailed a ‘Black Woman at The Forefront of the UK Jazz Scene’ (Black Ballad), the Neo-Jazz Singer-Songwriter Ni Maxine is a Black British woman sparking intergenerational conversations for change, exploring themes of home, identity, self-esteem & belonging. Described as Erykah Badu & Gil Scott-Heron’s lovechild, her conscious & political lyricism has taken her to the main stage at Liverpool’s Africa Oyé (sharing the stage with the legendary Seun Kuti) & the EFG London Jazz Festival.

Following a string of sold-out shows in Liverpool last year, including her debut headline show, ‘An Ode To Billie Holiday’ in The Philharmonic’s Music Room, & a successful collaboration with Tomorrow’s Warriors landing international coverage on Selector Radio (The British Council), Ni Maxine is taking her music on the road with Rudi Creswick, a friend & ally to the Black community, to spread a message of hope & unity across the country with the ‘Dark Days Are Done’ tour.

With a BBC Introducing highlight session under her belt, a live performance broadcast on BBC Radio 3’s J to Z, & her debut self-released single ‘Strange Love’ played across Jazz FM, Radio 1, BBC Radio 2 (The Jazz Show), 1Xtra & Selector Radio (internationally), Ni Maxine is one to watch.

RUDI CRESWICK

Having spent some time supplying low notes as bass player for a multitude of UK Soul & Jazz artists (including Tom Misch, Loyle Carner, Berwyn, Jordan Rakei, Poppy Ajudha, Puma Blue, Jorja Smith & Alfa Mist), Rudi Creswick has been stepping into the spotlight, after releasing his first full-length solo offering ‘Different Forms’ on Alfa Mist’s Sekito imprint, featured by Jamz Supernova as ‘The One’ on 1Xtra & in Clash Magazine.

Hailing from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Rudi was immersed in DJing and club culture from a young age, the low-end sonics of early dubstep, house, dub, hip-hop and garage guided his bass playing and led him to discover his own voice on the instrument.

In the years that followed, Rudi continued to hone his craft & production, melding the sub-rattling sounds of producers such as J Dilla, Mala & Kaytranada with the technical sensibilities of influential bass players such as Pino Palladino, Derrick Hodge & Thundercat.
