Adam Barnes + Joe Hicks / St. James Wine Vaults, Bath

Adam Barnes returns to Bath alongside fellow songwriter Joe Hicks. Opening the evening will be Isobel Holly & the talented Cécile.

Hailing from the countryside of Oxford, England, but now living in Berlin. Adam Barnes is a songwriter known for his melancholic indie/folk songs that speak of lost love, wistful thinking and the occasional adventure too. thriving in the quietest moments as well as raw emotional outbursts, created throughout his songs having that show musical upbringing of listening to the songwriters such as Damien Rice, Ray Lamontagne & Elliott Smith. Adam released his second full length album ‘Vacancy at NASA’ on the 7th of February, 2018; a musical folk drama derived from the experiences and struggles that seven years of songwriting has provided entailing both astronomy and heartbreak. Adam Barnes is yet to have a Wikipedia page written about him; it’s his biggest failure to date.

Raised in the rural market town of Newbury; English Singer-Songwriter Joe Hicks blends pop, blues and folk influences, combining intricate guitar composition with classic pop song-craft. Picking up the guitar at the age of 8, Joe has been able to build a highly individual musical identity, spending his earlier years as a guitar player in numerous varied stylistic projects following a childhood of classical training. Hicks released his first solo single at the start of 2017 and soon after was made 'BBC Introducing Artist of the Week’, receiving extensive radio play across the U.K and a CLASH feature. Since then the songwriter has built up a sizeable online following (500K Spotify streams) and 2018 saw him support BRITS critics choice winner Sam Fender in Oxford, play a slot on the BBC Introducing stage at the Big Feastival and over 15 Sofar Sounds shows. Joe released his new single ‘Cold’ on the 27th February, 2019.
