Pearl's Sleigh Ride

Way back in 1991, two like minds bonded over their shared love of music, whilst waiting in a taxi queue outside of a Hull nightclub. Pearl's Cab Ride was born, and the rest as they say, is funk-history.

After recruiting musicians with the chops to fulfil the vision, they were soon gigging and recording through the early 90's at festivals and venues renowned for fans of cool, funky, vibes – even attracting the attention of the Acid Jazz label.

In 2015 after a 20 year hiatus, the band were asked to reform for a special one-off celebration show, and that ended up lasting a decade!

They have graced the stages of iconic venues such as Hull's Adelphi Club, Welly and The Polar Bear, Smokestack in Leeds & Scunthorpe's CaféINDIE, as well as world renowned festivals including Boomtown Fair, Freedom Festival and the Humber Street Sesh. They have also supported Smoove & Turrell, Flamingods, Hot 8 Brass Band and 47Soul to name a few. Having been on their 2nd hiatus for over a year, Hull's original funk and soul behemoth return to Welly this Christmas for one of their legendary Sleigh Rides
