Professor Yaffle & Superdrone

Listen Up proudly present Professor Yaffle and Superdrone at 33 Oldham St, Manchester on Saturday 2nd September 2023.

PROFESSOR YAFFLE

Galactic troubadours 'Professor Yaffle' from Liverpool are an ever-growing collective of friends & musicians on a non-stop journey to the edge of your psyche.

Their breath-taking music can be found on their 4 studio albums; Cosmic Lullabies (2017), A Brand New Morning (2019), Moments of Clarity (2020) and Let There Be Light (2022) and are backed up by mesmerising remixes.

SUPERDRONE

Having been cited as figureheads of the new wave of British Shoegaze, Southampton three piece Superdrone have completed their fifth full album, ▽ and evolved their sound to a new high. New influences were incorporated, Jon Hopkins, Massive Attack, Unkle, M83, Harold Budd and Brian Eno can all be referenced through the beats and production arrangements meaning that the Shoegaze/Dreampop rule book has been well and truly ripped up.

As well as the traditional guitars, bass and drums, you will hear cinematics, pianos, synths, orchestration, binaural frequencies, A432 tuning, mellotrons, 3D surround soundscapes, drones and experimental recording techniques, all meshing together to create an extraordinarily emotional sound. This new cinematic approach to create the most beautiful sounds possible, has already been said to be a whole new musical genre, resulting in their latest release already being hailed by many reviewers as a "masterpiece".

Superdrone's prolific creativity is as strong as ever with the new album (the second in under a year), the next album is said to be ready and a new release coming in the form of a single with an album's worth of tracks on it, Morning Light being released on 18th June 2021.

They are a train of productivity hurtling its way across an Alaskan plane and each musical release is like a boulder being hurled off enabling them to increase in speed. Listen to ▽ with headphones, turn off your mind and float downstream, it's pure ethereal escapism.
