One of our more exciting trips is the one to Nottingham and the famous Robin Hood legacy.
This tour to Nottingham not only takes in the city of Nottingham but also the wider area of Nottinghamshire which is rich in history with many landmarks and relics.
SHERWOOD FOREST
The tour begins at Sherwood Forest - home of Robin Hood. There have been many books, films and documentaries made about the local hero who was famed for stealing from the rich to feed the poor.
The forest itself is fantastic for taking long walks and enjoying nature. You also get to see Robin Hood's tree - the Major Oak - which is now about 800 years old! It is a HUGE tree, weighs about 23 tonnes and so old that it is now supported by wooden support structures.
WOLLATON PARK
After Sherwood Forest, the tour continues to Wollaton Park where the imposing Wollaton Hall oversees the park.
As we drive into Wollaton, you will immediately recognise it from the film "Batman: The Dark Knight Rises". The opening scene was filmed here and thankfully, none of its features were altered for the movie.
Wollaton Hall is now a museum of natural history with thousands of specimen of zoology, archaeology, botany and geology.
CITY CENTRE (Nottingham Castle + Old Market Square)
The last stop of the tour is the city centre which is a bustling hive of modern bars, swanky restaurants and lofty apartments mixed with the antique of old Nottingham.
We mix the old and the new; starting with the old - Nottingham's famous Castle outside of which is the famous Robin Hood statue.
Make your imaginary bow & arrow + Strike a pose + Stand in front of the statue + take a selfie!
Then finish with the new - Old Market Square. This is the heart of the city with it's imposing City Council dome.
