A Concert for Ric 2: Screaming Mimi, Danny Fenton and the Lightkeepers plus support

After last year's sell-out "Gig for Ric", it's time for "A Gig for Ric 2" to again raise money for the "Ric Bower Bursary" in conjunction with Water Bear The College Of Music. The Bursary is in place to support young and up-coming bands and song-writers and dedicated to Ric Bower, guitarist in RepoMen and Batman's Treaty, who was sadly taken from us prematurely in the Autumn of 2023.

The mini-festival event will feature the winning bands and artists from this year's bursary playing live along with other up-and-coming artists. We're also extremely excited to announce that the event headliners and good friends of RepoMen and Ric be local legends Screaming Mimi who will be playing their first gig for nearly sixteen years.

The Sheffield-based five-piece band formed back in June 2004 and after a string of well-received live appearances and singles, released their first and only album via Phantom Power Records entitled "Leap Into My Fervent Arms" in 2009, before disbanding in the same year. Eclectic and hard to pin down, they mix country and surf influences to create their own brand of urgent and dark cinematic pop. In terms of influences, you wouldn't be surprised to find in their record collections the likes of Blondie, The Cramps, Tindersticks and Siouxsie and the Banshees. Featuring the original line-up of Loretta Chantry (vocals, theremin, organ), Jon Groves (guitars, violin, vocals), Martin Hirons (guitars, organ), Mark Lloyd (guitars), Jeff Waters (drums, percussion, glockenspiel) this is not a gig to be missed!

Also on the bill we're buzzing to have Danny Fenton and the Lightkeepers and a chance to see the current guitarist of his dad's band, The Vapors, launch his solo career.

Special Guests also to be confirmed along with the winners of this year's Ric Bower Bursary.
