“Five tracks of pure bliss “ – Hypebeast (on Escapism II)
“production wunderkind” – Red Bull
A genre-defying producer from Stirling, but currently out in LA, Sam Gellaitry made huge waves with his 2015 EP - Short Stories released on LA label Soulection when he was still a teenager. Uniquely creating contrasting sounds, he sits atmospheric melodies alongside hard hitting bass with a variety of instrumental layers immersing the listener - every track stands out.
“Sam Gellaitry’s sound is eclectic and constantly evolving, and that’s why we can’t stop listening” -
Pigeons and Planes
He released his first two chapters of his ‘Escapism’ series on XL Recordings: intricate tracks with an exuberant globetrotting aesthetic with middle-eastern strings, pitch-shifted dancehall vocals, lush 80’s synths, snake-charmer woodwind, harps under trap beats creating an aesthetic that shouldn’t work - but it does and it makes sense.
The final chapter in Gellaitry’s Escapism series showcases 5 tracks that are exactly what you would expect, he takes you on a mind bending, bass pumping, arpeggiated synth journey infused with live sounding strings and bells.
‘Ceremony’, up til now a room-shaking exclusive for when he plays out, continues the trance and rave influence of his previous EPs, and finally gets a recorded release with Escapism III.
“With the release of his eclectic five-track EP Escapism II...Sam Gellaitry cemented himself as one of the most exciting, boundary-pushing young producers in the electronic music scene right now.” - Hypetrak
“But Gellaitry’s gentle keyboard touch and far-swung bass lines grip fans in a way that music by few nineteen-year-olds can.” - New Yorker
"... the producer illustrates a penchant for turning instrumental dissonance into coherent stories on his newly released Escapism EP." – Pigeons and Planes
