Connor Ryan-Williams
Maya Blandy & Bruce Dent
George Fisher-Edwards
Join us at Lions Den for an evening of music from some of Manchester's best young jazz-influenced musicians.
Connor Ryan-Williams is a guitarist and composer, originally from Cumbria and now based in Manchester. This project explores dense, emotive harmony, putting guitar in the foreground, but still allowing space for the five other fantastic musicians in the group. Taking inspiration from artists like Nick Drake, Adrianne Lenker, Julian Lage and Matt Carmichael - who have informed the Jazz/Folk or Nordic Jazz aspects of the sound - the project has come into its own as a humble exploration of sound.
Maya Blandy is a Portuguese / British singer, songwriter and visionary. She blends rhythms and soulful melodies with Disco's infectious energy, Pop's timeless allure, and the heartfelt essence of Soul and Jazz. Accompanying Maya on Guitar will be the amazing Bruce Dent, whose rich chord voicings and harmonic substitutions pair perfectly with Maya's vocal to create a wonderfully rich yet intimate sound.
Inspired by jazz, folk and classic songwriting, pianist George Fisher-Edwards uses his instruments as a form of escapism weaving a narrative with his nostalgic harmonies and wistful melodies along with a groundwork of accomplished musicianship.
