Trial Tapes are proud to present their debut EP '5 Notes', with their first ever self-curated headline show at Lost Art Live, Liverpool. Support comes from Dogminder and FUMES.
This debut collection captures a raw and intimate period of radical self-reinvention for singer/producer Jack McNally, marking his return to music after nearly a decade of silence, with the core theme of the record being his late coming out story and reconciliation of hetero/homo-normativity.
Across the five tracks McNally fuses elements of scuzzy indie rock, lo-fi synth-pop, and artful storytelling, with influences ranging from Kim Deal and Jai Paul to T. Rex, Courtney Barnett, and queer duo Man on Man, all reinterpreted through a uniquely personal, kitchen-sink lens.
Trial Tapes welcomed 2026 as part of Hooton Tennis Club’s annual New Years Eve Hootonanny before supporting Wavves in February and spending much of March performing stripped down solo sets across the UK, supporting Not Richard & Her Majesty in Brighton and performing alongside the likes of HTML Jones at Piehouse Co-Op in London. With more summer tour dates TBA, Trial Tapes are set to perform at FOCUS Wales in May.
