‘A Selective Agency Presentation’
An Evening with Chris & Tony Griffiths from The Real People Acoustic.
The Real People were formed by brothers Tony and Chris Griffiths in 1988, signing to CBS in 1989 and releasing their self-titled debut album in 1991, featuring Window Pane, Open Up Your Mind, and The Truth. The band toured extensively across the UK, Europe, the US, and Japan, appearing at Glastonbury and supporting major artists including The Pixies, David Bowie, and Inspiral Carpets. Their second album, Marshmallow Lane, produced with Jimmy Miller, included the Top 40 single Believer, further cementing their reputation and growing fanbase.
During this period, The Real People played a key role in the early development of Oasis, mentoring Noel and Liam Gallagher and helping create the Live Demonstration Tape that led to their breakthrough. Chris and Tony contributed to Oasis’s debut single Supersonic and co-wrote Rockin’ Chair, while also influencing tracks like Columbia and Don’t Go Away. Alongside writing for other artists, including a Top 10 hit for Cher, the band released further albums such as What’s On The Outside, Think Positive, and Monday Morning Breakdown, and toured with acts like Ocean Colour Scene, Paul Weller, and Simple Minds. Still active today, they continue to write, record, and perform, with their An Evening With…tour offering fans an intimate, acoustic celebration of their music and legacy.
