Learning to sew is a skill that will always come in handy! From solving last minute clothing issues to creating a personalised gift for a loved one, you can always find an excuse to exercise your sewing skills. As well as being useful, sewing is fun and a brilliant way to relax and unwind during those stressful times. You’ll practise a range of transferable skills such as: maintained concentration, attention to detail, problem solving, and creative thinking. Why not come along and give it a go?
Nick Ruggieri is an Assistant International Student Adviser for the International@CampusLife team who also sews in his spare time. Before joining CampusLife, Nick qualified as a teacher and taught a variety of lessons including art and design. He often uses his sewing skills to create gift and festive decorations, and to fix clothing for himself, family and (on occasion) colleagues.
