Friday 24th March - £10 advanced tickets

GR INTRO:01 is the first in a series of gigs celebrating the talent from the North-East & beyond whilst also showcasing Newcastle's newest independent venue, The Grove.

Cortney Dixon - Cortney Dixon, artist, producer & guitarist from South Shields, emerged from an unforgettable year spent soul-searching, digging deep and diving into a world of sound experimentation. Cortney found creative freedom in discovering her love for music production and it sent her music in a new direction. Guitar driven, with big organic beats, her new releases have a heavier, distorted edge drawing influences from the likes of PJ Harvey, St Vincent and Blondie. Mega guitar riffs and hook-laden melodies front Cortney’s distinctive new sound showcasing her unique vocal performance. It’s pop powered by her love of indie-rock.

Sarah Johnsone - Having inherited her music taste from her dad, Sarah grew up listening to an eclectic range of genres, including rock, blues, jazz, R&B and reggae. In particular, she was influenced by the likes of The Beatles, Aretha Franklin, Amy Winehouse and Paolo Nutini. From this upbringing, Sarah has gone on to develop her own sound and introspective songwriting style, merging those timeless influences with more modern musical inspirations and lyrics that are indicative of life for a young woman in the northeast.

Cosial - Cosial is an upcoming 18-year-old musician making a splash in the bedroom-pop genre. With her debut in February 2022, Cosial caught the attention of the likes of BBC introducing, Amazing Radio, and gigs across the local music scene such as Twisterella and Heelapalooza.

Cosial has been writing songs since she was 11 years old, constantly evolving and adapting as she moves through her young adult years. Her lyricism touches on the thoughts and feelings that accompany this – the breaking, the healing, and the general messiness of it all.
