Caulbearers - 'Next World' Single Launch Party & Gig - Kamera, MCR

Manchester band Caulbearers celebrate the release of new single ‘Next World’ with a launch party & live gig featuring members of The Earlies, Elf Traps, Cherry Ghost & Beats & Pieces Big Band
The collective are joined by vocalist Ruth Blake for this date and there will be a guest set from iconic hip-hop artist MC Buzz B aka Shorn.

Based on the songs of producer and vocalist Damien Mahoney, the ensemble weave together elements of hip-hop, funk, dub, soul and jazz, with plenty of grit and discord in the mix.
Their sound has been described as …”roots music from the rainy city… psychedelic soul with poetic, social observation.”

‘Next World’ is an intense and epic breakbeat-driven ode to the importance of direct action and protest, which were central to the band’s emergence in Hulme, MCR in the mid 2000s, as part of the Single Cell Collective. The single features musicians John Ellis on piano, Denmark-based violinist Anne Eltard and vocalist Ruth Blake alongside a core of regular Caulbearers contributors.

Guest support tbc.

Tickets - (£12 +bf), more OTD.

“An infectious offering, tastefully weaving in elements of surf pop, funk rock and world music.”

~ Louder Than War.

"Impressive... what it might sound like were you to cross Bill Laswell and Massive Attack with Laura Marling and Mojave 3... stellar, believable and inspiring."

~ Big Takeover Magazine

“Funky and original…All music should be this progressive”

~ Jammerzine

Caulbearers create music that shines like a mystical mosaic and whose fragmented pieces create a visceral, celebratory and abstract work of art.”
