DJ Slimzee
co-founded Rinse FM in 1994.[6] For a three-year
period in the early days of the station the Rinse studio was hosted in
DJ Slimzee's house.[7] From the late 1990s Slimzee was one of the first
DJs to start introducing the dark new music coming out of the UK garage
scene into his sets[7] and throughout the early 2000s he hosted a Sunday
afternoon grime show which would regularly showcase some of the genres
best MCs.[8] Many artists who featured on Slimzee's pirate radio shows
went on to have mainstream success, he received a golden disc in
recognition of his contribution to Dizzee Rascal's successful debut
album Boy in da Corner. In 2005 Ofcom disconnected a Rinse FM radio
transmitter and Slimzee received an ASBO, believed to be the first of
its kind, banning him from every rooftop in the borough of Tower
Hamlets.[10] This event ended Slimzee's regular show on Rinse FM, but he
continued to host occasional one off shows and take live bookings until
his return to regular radio on NTS in 2014.[4][5] Since his return to
radio Slimzee has recorded sets with MCs including Skepta, Jammer,
Scratchy, D Double E and Trim.
Biome
There's a lot of talent
in Manchester that tends to get overlooked, but it's a testament to the
city's apparently inherent passion for music that this acts less as a
barrier than as a hurdle that needs to be crossed at its highest point.
Biome is a producer representative of this approach in that there is
nothing rushed about his work and he only seems happy if what people are
hearing from is something that he can call fully-formed. After first
breaking into dubstep with the sort of big kicks and dark mid-range
found on tunes like 'Sonic' he has honed his sound to something
genuinely original and he's now reaping the rewards of his patience and
getting regular plays from some of the biggest names on the circuit. By
considering the importance of the mid-range of a tune alongside the
bassline and still keeping in mind the idea of space, Biome builds that
ever-elusive sense of darkness into his beats whilst maintaining the
energy within them that is necessary to get people moving on a
dancefloor. (hedmuk) Known for his brooding half-step, spacious vibes
and dark atmospheric compositions, Manchester-based Biome - whose skills
as a first-rate DJ are already cemented alongside his natural talent in
producing incomparable crowd-pleasing tunes – is set to join an army of
heavy-weights on the 15th of feb.

INKA
Manchester’s
heavyweight producer making major movements right about now - better
believe that. From the waves made by the gully “Leaned Out”
collaboration with IAMDDB, Inka stepped it up again on the project
Waveydon Ballads. Fusing his roots in bass music with elements drawn
from all corners of the music spectrum – bringing through some serious
talent along the way
Inka’s music has brought a new, widely
appreciated sound to the Manchester scene, and as support grows in his
home city, so does his notoriety across the country. His eclectic DJ
sets often see off any dance in only a way Inka knows how, and the
Waveydon himself is sure to be a known name in the scene for some time
to come.
