Esse Pi Enne (Turin/All Night Flight) w/ Competition

Esse Pi Enne currently consists of Stefano Murgia - a dull self-taught music composer and old newspapers enthusiast born and raised in the post- industrual suburbs of Torino in the Northern Italy.

He released his debut LP «Chamber Music» on Tom Houghton’s label All Night Flight in November 2025 and that’s what some people said about it:

«shunting stunted rhythms & gonzo found sound onto slo-mo filigree guitarisms, not so much in repose as constantly building (to nowhere?) & then bottoming out. deliriously wtf on innumerable occassions throughout, leaving us to imagine the titular chamber as some dusted hovel with a soiled mattress & hissy-arse amp for company, the loosely-organised horizontal approach to kitchen sinkage giving that same aura as the best of the bedsit hometaped post-rock we forgot in ’99»

«blunt sounds and radio static from another place and time, histories merge without explanation. Chamber music is a fitting title for music that feels introverted, domestic and out of sight, its charm lies in its mystery, tangents and touch-points left unexplained. It's unintentionally aloof yet occasionally tender. A product of its Piedmont surroundings yet mixed in Manchester for extra glum»

Competition

"Outwardly Competition channels something of Loren Connors or the collaborations of claire rousay & more eaze. the bored fire operates as a guitar album, one that sees him reflect on feeling for years that playing guitar was deeply embarrassing, accepting that the world keeps spinning and time, as ever, renders all things eternally untethered.

The field recording that underpins the album was recorded in Newcastle’s now forgotten Monument Mall in 2011 by artist and expert archivist ex tynam. it holds together alongside a feeling that shapes the album, of a realisation that comes after the fact, of an end that was overlooked but is increasingly felt now. (reluctantly hauntological in 2026)"
