The Lubber Fiend is a community-led music venue specialising in DIY music of all sorts. We bring some of the best touring bands to Newcastle and support the most exciting local noise makers.
Its our birthday this weekend! Please come and celebrate with us!
We are somehow 4 years old and still hanging on in, and we have put together a belter line up to celebrate!
Its an absolute privilege for us to run the venue and to book artists that we love, and each year the birthday is meant to be a real celebration of what we do. Hard to argue with this years line up! We have Al Wooton headlining with his serpentine heads down Dub-Techno, Germ Lattice bring the wonkiest post-punk, A Happy Return is a beautiful homespun kind of minimal folk and Leucotome self describe as a Organic Industrial Femme Folk Cult. As if that wasn't enough, we're staying open late-late with the wonky post-everything sounds of the NTS resident Lupini and house fiend Jon C.
We have 3 different but equally brilliant acts this Saturday.
With the avant-folk of Harry Gorksi Brown, weaving together traditional gaelic folk with an almost electro-acoustic sensitivity, the warble and croon of guitar player and singer Eric Chenaux, and finally the synth/drone sounds of Sara Mokrani.
Its cheaper to buy in advance if you can, not to be missed!
Stacked line up for the gig tonight! With Penelope Trappes, Earthball, Rún, Nëwsün, and Sage Over Syringe!
Doors at 6pm, and still some tickets left on the door, get down early to avoid disappointment
Join us tomorrow for a rare opportunity to see Scattered Purgatory before they head to Roadburn Festival. The Taiwanese duo explore drones and electronic experimentation, with reference to the mythology and customs of their culture. Not to be missed.
We can't wait to welcome Folklore Tapes for a special performance this Saturday!
"Folklore Tapes will be exploring the lore and legend surrounding the Lubber Fiend, mischievous house spirit/demon who is also known as Hob, Brownie, Lob and many more.
Folklore Tapes have assembled four creatives from the collective: Bridget Hayden, Sam McLoughlin, Dan Bridgwood-Hill and David Chatton Barker.
The quartet will explore the Lubber through optical light wizardry, automated sonic spectacles and homemade instrumental jams.
Expect wild and weird wonderment"
