Anyone’s Ghost is a dark-folk artist with a shudderingly atmospheric sound. The solo project of songwriter Wanda Roslyn, Anyone’s Ghost first emerged from Manchester in 2019, immediately making an impact with delicate, solemn songs that touch on themes of romance, mystery and murder.
Borne from a love of moody folk and gothic literature, the music of Anyone’s Ghost is a blend of poetic lyricism, patient guitar playing and rich, oceanic soundscapes, akin in tone to the likes of The National, Phoebe Bridgers & PJ Harvey. Usually wielding little more than an acoustic guitar and a multitude of effects pedals, Wanda is able to capture your attention from the get-go with their haunting vocals, which spin a tale that is heartfelt, raw, and captivating.
Over the course of the last year, Anyone’s Ghost has evolved into a larger project with the addition of two additional members of the band - bringing the expanded production of the recordings to real life. On the 20th July 2023, the debut album “Necromancer” was released, a poetic depiction of Wanda's experiences over the past few years, expanding on the shoegazy sound of the debut EP, showing Wanda's maturity and talent throughout the full album. The album is a testament to Wanda's songwriting ability, from the deeply touching imagery in "Out Of Spite", the power and ferocity of the lyrics in "Ancestor", to the delicate and intrinsic descriptive poetry relayed in "The Lexington". Wanda's compelling songwriting is central to Anyone's Ghost's tracks, and their musical capability gives it a backdrop enriched in noise, through the use of pedals and dynamic guitar work.
