BESS ATWELL
Atwell’s former solo project has evolved into a full band affair soaked in four-part vocal harmony fulfilling her desire to create a more dynamic live show, with traces of traditional folk music. The band took some time out after the release of Atwell’s debut to work on new material in their hometown of Brighton. The time off allowed the songwriter to develop a more refined, assured sound by falling back in love with folk music and learning to incorporate it with newer indie-rock influences.

Two of Atwell’s late 2018 offerings ‘Swimming Pool’ and ‘Grace’ were playlisted by BBC Radio 6 Music. Taking inspiration from the likes of The National, Fleet Foxes, and Sharon Van Etten, to name just a few, the new music explores conflicting themes on identity, romanticism and reality.

Max Pope creates music that stops you in your tracks, making you see the universal experiences of life, love, loss, human connections and isolation in a new way. His songs, filled with colourful characters from his life and imagination, always capture his unique perspective on the world and demonstrate a gift for storytelling that goes far beyond his years.. A musical contemporary of Flo Morrissey and Loyle Carner, Max studied at the BRIT school and currently also works as a gardener, tending to flowerbeds and lugging kilos of compost around the gardens of south London, work he cherishes for helping him feel connected to the world.
