The Sugarhill Gang with The Furious 5 feat. Mele Mel & Scorpio

The Sugarhill Gang blasted into the music world when their 1979 hit ‘Rappers Delight’ hit the American billboard top 40 becoming the first Rap record to enter the charts and paving the way for hip hop generations to come. Further hits came with Apache and 8th Wonder.
Rappers Delight years later was rightly installed in The Grammy’s Hall of Fame.
Furious 5 featuring Melle Mel and Scorpio join The Sugarhill Gang in The Sugarhill Reunion 2016.
Melle Mel is a leading rap pioneer and legend of the rapping world as one of the lead songwriters in The Furious 5. Tracks like ‘White Lines’ & ‘The Message’ fixed Furious 5 in hip hop legendary status.
Scorpio joined and Furious 5 was complete with an awesome array of rap talent and the above future hits of the time about to go mainstream and pioneer and cement a new genre that thrives today.
The term hip hop was actually coined by former member Cowboy mimicking a pals marching rhythm who had recently joined the army, while Melle Mel was the first person to call himself ‘MC’ taking the initials from ‘Master of Ceremony’.
