DotFlex x TRUK pres. Sybil ✦•☀•✦ Alex Downey | Bank Holiday Sunday All-Dayer : In 2 Parts Sunday 3 May, Bristol

DotFlex & TRUK combine forces — an 11 hour trip down future memory lane across two intimate Bristol venues. Hypnotic, groove-based electronic delights pulsing from day to night with SYBIL headlining part 1, and mystery guest for part 2.

Part 1 — La Panza (16:00–22:00 / BS1 6NL)  We ease into the day at La Panza — a cosy, rustic Italian restaurant with a courtyard and space to dance. Our special guest Sybil will do her magic, with support from yours hosts Ms OgynyTom Evo. Sound powered by TRUK.

Part 2 — The Cider Box (22:00–03:00 / BS2 0QD)  A 20 minute walk away, as night falls we move to The Cider Box — a characterful warehouse-style bar with craft cider made on-site and an atmosphere that wraps around you. We open with an ambitious first — four DJs, one b2b session: Amy, Ms Ogyny Night Rice and Xhelk. Before Alex Downey steps up to close.

Part 1 & Part 2 are ticketed separately.

£11 per part / £18 for both. Limited capacity at both venues.

Sybil (Voidspore / Deep Mind Music)

Sybil is a storyteller, her sets bring listeners along on exciting voyages through the imagination. At the core of Sybil’s mystical selections is an emotional depth, textural clarity and a sense of space. A prescient musical intuition enables her to shift energies on the dancefloor in a multitude of directions. She is equally adept at playing propulsive deep techno, as she is at exploring hazy breaks, sumptuous downtempo, soaring trance, expansive drone, and even full-throttle drum and bass. Sybil’s sets often criss-cross through all of these genres and more, as she guides dancers on journeys which are emotive, thrilling and ultimately revitalising. Based in London, a notable UK-flair for genre-fluidity and diagonal rhythms can be found within her psychedelic techno excursions.

Sybil’s DJing has taken her across revered events and venues on the global stage. These include: Sustain Release, Waking Life, Dekmantel, Paral·lel Festival, Positive Education, Butik Festival, Nowadays, De School, Berlin Atonal, WHOLE Festival, Dimensions, La Nature Festival, Mo:Dem, Transcendance (Japan), Miscellania (Melbourne), Harmony (Prague), ZVUK (Kazakhstan) and Discos Movimiento (Mexico City).

Whilst Sybil’s club sets are often geared for energetic dance floor exhilaration, her numerous mixes are notable for their highly visual narrative arcs. Subtly accelerating and decelerating between disparate BPMs, she stitches together music from a broad palette of textures, contrasting new finds with long forgotten gems to create memorable journeys which are both rewarding and entrancing.

Sybil has released singular mixes for platforms such as Monument, Crack Magazine, Patterns of Perception, Dimensions, DISCWOMAN, Ute, INVEINS and Mysteries of the Deep. This is alongside curating her own much-loved ambient, drone and experimental mix series, Deep Mind Music, which she has run since 2017.

Alex Downey (Freeroation / Houghton / Temple of Vinyl)

Brighton based & a long-running Freerotation resident, Alex is the man behind Temple of Vinyl — a living, breathing operation dedicated to the tangible joy of records. He breathes techno but never stays in one lane — weaving electro, broken beats & more as if they were one.

Ben Sims calls him "naturally gifted." James Fitz puts it simply — "one of the finest DJs to come out of the UK in the past 25 years." Adam Shelton goes further — "technically he's a wizard, selections are impeccable."

When Alex plays, people remember. The legendary and ongoing Freerotation residency. The Drexciya-themed freak-out to a raving swimming pool at the final Bloc Weekender. The sonic head-fry served up dreamy at Portugal’s Waking Life Festival. The crafted highlight sets at Houghton Festival. Labyrinth, Japan. Concrete, Paris. Berghain. Pickle Factory. Fabric. Kerfuffle. Wiggle. And on. And on.

"I'm not interested in going with trends. I just try to be authentic, follow my heart, play what resonates, expressing my own musical voice."
