The Cureheads

THE CUREHEADS

The original and longest-running tribute to The Cure, formed in
London in 1990.

In thirty-six years they have headlined the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in
Leipzig, played CBGB in New York, Camden Palace, Razzmatazz in
Barcelona and Dublin's Temple Bar, and appeared at the Isle of
Wight Festival three times. In 2010 they played to 10,000 people
at the Teatro Caupolicán in Santiago, broadcast live on Chilean
national television. They have opened for Depeche Mode, Echo &
The Bunnymen and The Pretenders.

Fronted by the original vocalist of Nosferatu, this is a band
that came up inside the scene it celebrates — not a covers act
assembled from session players. Ninety minutes of The Cure, from
the spiky early singles to the stadium years, played by people
who were there the first time round.

SIOUXSIE & THE BUDGIES

Sixty minutes of Siouxsie and the Banshees, delivered with the
ice and drama the originals demanded.

From the punk snarl of Hong Kong Garden through The Scream and
Juju to the gothic pop of Cities in Dust and Peek-a-Boo, the set
covers a band who invented an entire aesthetic and then kept
moving before anyone could copy it.

The pairing with The Cureheads is no accident. In the autumn of
1979 Robert Smith spent a tour playing guitar for both bands, and
came back to The Cure a changed writer. This double bill is built
on that crossover — two catalogues that shaped each other, in one
evening.
