Segun Johnson Is Taking Tungba to the World
In an era where pre-recorded beats and polished studio sounds dominate the party scene, Segun Johnson stands out as a bold reminder of the soul-stirring magic of live African music. A master of Tungba and a charismatic bandleader, Segun has turned cultural performances into global spectacles—from Lagos to London, Maryland to Toronto, and now Hull, UK. Whether leading a packed dancefloor with signature chants like “Sho ma nowo ye tan?” or performing back-to-back shows across continents, Segun is not just an entertainer—he’s a cultural ambassador redefining what it means to celebrate African identity through music. This blog explores his journey, his whirlwind UK visit in April, and why Hull is next in line to experience the unmatched energy of Segun Johnson live at Sauti Sessions, brought to you by The Gidi Vibes™.
