The STARBURST INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL is a celebration of genre and of STARBURST MAGAZINE itself.

Taking place in Manchester over the August Bank Holiday weekend every year.

The Festival is a celebration of everything STARBURST MAGAZINE has done since 1977: sci-fi, fantasy, horror, cult. From the biggest blockbuster to the most niche indies, via the very best of the small screen.

Cult classics, retro revivals, new releases, filmmaking and industry-specific events are all in full flow, plus signings and photo ops, Q+As with industry legends, evening entertainment and crazy cosplay fun.
A beautifully curated film festival by day and a riotous party by night, this is THE ultimate summer celebration for film fans.

A shared cultural experience, and a mecca where fans of cult entertainment can get together and have a blast.

Starting with the launch party on Friday, culminating in the official STARBURST AWARDS adjudicated over by a panel of Industry Professionals, Directors, and Writers, to be held on Sunday evening, and then ending with the final blowout that we all share together that is the WRAP PARTY. It’s the weekend pilgrimage we look forward to each and every year.

The STARBURST INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL is the ultimate way for genre fans to spend this August bank holiday weekend with myself, Martin, Shauna, and the rest of the STARBURST crew.

Accommodation is literally across the road (included with full weekend passes), and you can simply stay here with us all weekend, and let us entertain you. We will be putting up further details of attending guests from the world of fantasy TV and cinema as they emerge.
