About Sigma Falls

Sigma Falls

On 24th July 2015, Sigma Falls will be releasing their debut double A-side single. Recorded at Mayfield Studios, the release will feature “She Lost It”, the first song written by Andi and Karl, and crowd-favourite “Stay Honest”.

Sigma Falls are a 5-piece alternative rock band from Portsmouth, UK. Their powerful riff-driven and energetic sound mixes influences from the Seattle grunge and California punk scene of the 90’s with alternative rock bands from the UK.

Formed towards the end of 2013, Sigma Falls is making waves in the local area with an ever growing fan base and it will surely be a matter of time before they’re blasting their way across the country.

The band have gone from strength to strength in 2015, starting the year with a set at the inaugural Icebreaker Festival at the Edge of the Wedge; playing the Breaking Bands event at the Wedgewood Rooms in April; and being invited to play the Seaside Stage at Victorious Festival in August after a hugely successful show with other local favourites Foxer and Underground Pilots at the RMA Tavern.

The ethos of the band is simple: to craft upbeat and catchy carefree songs and perform captivating dynamic performances.

In the beginning…

Andi and Karl began working on songs during the summer of 2013. The first couple of times they met up weren't so fruitful, struggling to come up with anything worthwhile, but after a few beers things began to gel. Over the next few weeks they had crafted a handful of songs and were ready to recruit other members.

By the end of September, they welcomed aboard Ryan to the project, whose drumming helped bring energy and dynamics to the songs that, up until that point, had only been played on an acoustic guitar. Although the beginnings were challenging in finding a suitable bassist, they were eventually joined by Russell in December.

2014

Sigma Falls were already making a name for themselves on the local music scene following a string of energetic gigs throughout the first half of 2014 including their biggest gig to date at the Wedgewood Rooms in July.

September saw the band recruit Craig on guitar to add depth and melodies to their sound. After a few month break, two new songs and additional guitarist, Sigma Falls returned to the local scene to headline the Halloween Sessions at the Fat Fox.
