I first started learning belly dance approx 15 years ago during a rebellious stage in my life when I wanted to do something different. It wasn't long before belly dance took over my life and I became obsessed with learning more; more about the dance and more about the culture.
For many years I was happy just attending weekly classes and workshops around the country, but when I was asked about becoming a teacher myself (something I had never considered), I decided to sign myself onto the JWAAD training program.
After completing the Safe delivery of bellydance classes course in 2008, I then set up my first dance class in my local village of Hesketh Bank. Classes began promising enough, but gradually numbers fell, and I ended up cancelling those lessons and trying on a different night, Again, all was well to begin, but after a few months I decided to cancel those too, and move to a larger catchment area.
I moved to teaching in Penwortham in 2010, and this is when I consider my business as really starting. This proved to be the turning point of the business, and I haven't looked back since.
