About AFWE

ABOUT

The AFRICAN FASHION WEEK EDMONTON (AFWE) it is a plateform created by LUXURE EVENTS to celebrate and share with Edmontonians the African and Caribbean culture during BLACK HISTORY MONTH.

MISSION

Each year we strive to bring together a community of designers, stylists, industry professionals , art and fashion enthusiasts.
This year a portion of our proceed will go to Children's Heart Foundation(http://www.childrensheart.org/)

EVENT DESCRIPTION

Along with African/Caribbean inspired fashion and designers we will showcase art, culture and dance. Local artists, dancers and a multicultural food menu will celebrate, educate and provide a social platform for industry networking.
Our program is carefully selected to highlight Black History Month. With the rapid growth of Edmonton's diverse community, our event will connect new and current community members, residents, and businesses.
Some of our partnership includes the “We believe in 118Ave” campaign, YEG Youth Empowerment multi post-secondary campus group, The Edmonton African Center, and the Diversity Magazine (formerly the Afro-Caribbean Magazine). In addition to building the arts and creativity industry within Edmonton and promoting multiculturalism and community collaboration we will donate to a local charity this year. As February is heart month, LUXURE EVENTS has chosen the Children’s Heart Foundation. This foundation works closely with families affected by heart disease, giving financial aid, community support and hope to individual families. A portion of the entire event as well as a percentage of the individual artists’ sales will be donated to the Children's Heart Foundation. We are hosting a guest speaker from the charity to our event who will share some local success stories.
