Lone, also known as Matthew Cutler, will be bringing his distinctive blend of Hip Hop, House, Classic Rave and Detroit Techno to Alfie Birds and The Oobleck this December.
Cutler has released 5 albums and over 100 tracks to date via R&S, Werk Discs and his own Magic Wire imprint. As well as producing his own music he’s also produced for Azealia Banks and remixed tracks for a wide variety of artist such as Radiohead, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, and Friendly Fires.
Lone’s music effortlessly fuses warm synths and sensual glitchy beats with euphoric upbeat melodies and vibes. This is no more apparent than in his latest release ‘Reality Testing’ (R & S Records, June 2014).
The Nottingham based producers latest release largely abandons his rave tempos and breakbeat techno influenced past, and focuses more on dusty hip hop grooves and early Detroit dance music. Filled with loopy synths and clean chimes.
‘Reality Testing’ has been described as Lone’s easiest listen thus far, making it very popular with the critics:
Mixmag (Album of the Month), DJ Mag (Album of the Month), Pitchfork (Best New Music for track ‘2 is 8’), Worldwide Awards (Winner of Track of the Year for Airglow Fires) and The Guardian (4/5 Review & One Album You Should Listen this Week Feature)
With this luxurious, and accomplished electronic album, Cutler is fast establishing himself as one of dance music’s most exciting producers.
