Spheres Of Jelly

Spheres of Jelly are a Manchester-based trio playing alternative rock and dance floor-filling indie favourites. The band was formed over a decade ago at Alty Grammar when the lads first picked up their instruments of choice: Patrick picking the electric guitar and vocals, Adam (A.K.A. “Falky”) picking the bass, and Ben picking his nose (and also the drums). Gigs were played all over town – at venues such as Manchester Academy, Sale Waterside and Jabez Clegg – and a devoted teenage following was amassed. Alas, the boys went their separate ways after high school.

Flash forward to 2022. Gravitating back to Manchester, steeped in failure and debt, the boys decided to give the band another shot, safe in the knowledge that music was their destiny/only remaining hope. With their fast-paced and tightly-structured sets – filled with both catchy originals and spell-binding alt and indie covers – the newly-named “Spheres of Jelly” have started to reassert themselves on the Manchester music scene.

Together they write raw, riff-laden, and highly-singable rock songs, making use of both traditional and progressive song forms. Their primary musical influences are huge stadium bands: Foo Fighters, Muse and Red Hot Chilli Peppers holding the greatest sway over their musical choices. Lyrics-wise, the boys and their co-writer Alex Benjamin, write semi-autobiographically, obsessing over the bad moods and heartaches that can plague the chronically immature.
