The HiFi Club presents... Sunday Joint with Fabienne & Tiger Edison

The March 2023 edition of Sunday Joint at The Hifi Club shines the spotlight on two young singers from the vibrant Leeds soul scene but each with their own distinctive take on the genre. Headline artist Fabienne and her band are very much in the neo-soul/contemporary r'n'b camp whilst support artist Tiger Edison brings an old school soul flavour to her contemporary nusoul sound.

Fabienne (Fabienne Clarke) is a Leeds born and raised singer who started performing at the tender age of 16 by busking on the street. A love for old school 90s r'n'b and neo-soul, she can sway a crowd with slow jams as easily as rocking them with uptempo streetsoul and urban tracks. In 2019, as part of Get Away Girls, she performed live at the Leeds Black Music Festival as well as the Live At Leeds Festival. In 2021, she began studying music at Leeds Conservatoire and in January 2022, she made her debut at the Hifi Club with her own band at a Leeds Conservatoire Afro-Caribbean Society takeover. The response from the packed audience was great and she followed this performance with more Leeds shows including collaborations with Leeds music label Come Play With Me at Headrow House and Wharf Chambers. She guested on vocals at Brudenell Social Club with afrojazz band Afrodesia, and then returned to Hifi Club in autumn 2022, opening for nusoul rising stars Heritage. Now, with a full set of original material and a well rehearsed and gigging band, she steps out front for her first Sunday Joint headline show. With a new single in the pipeline and a debut EP later this summer, come and check out what she's been cooking up in the studio these last few months.

Support artist Tiger Edison is also a vocalist but her soul sound is heavily influenced by old school soul with a touch of jazz thrown into the mix. She is a brand new artist on the Leeds scene, emerging in 2022 doing small duo shows around the city and in Bradford with her guitarist and musical director Pedraum Agahi. As 2023 arrived, they expanded their duo to a 7 piece soul band with the addition of drums, keys and bass plus a horn section. Tiger recruited some of the best student musicians currently at Leeds Conservatoire to play her original songs. These include Pedraum Agahi (guitar), Toby Freeman (bass guitar), Reece Fogg (alto sax), Scarlett Baxter (drums), Charlie Davis (tenor sax), Cam Gilson (keys) and Maisie Parlane (trumpet). They've recorded a demo EP full of original compositions by Tiger and Pedro and tonight, they'll be playing them out live. Come and check a future soul star from Leeds at the start of her musical journey.
