RUSSELL HICKS

"Russell Hicks is Amazing", Comedy Palace

One of the most exciting comics to come out of America, Russell Hicks is branded one of the 'Top Six Comics to Watch' by LA's Stand Up Talk Magazine. He has appeared on LA based panel show Direct TV's 'What's News?' and is a regular guest on hit podcasts such as Talkin' Sh*t with Eddie Ifft.

Headlining the nationally acclaimed student circuit in the United States, Russell regularly takes his hour long solo shows across the country to the biggest universities. Prolific and consistently delivering quality new work, audience members are often compelled to return for two nights in a row. Fast and loose, no two shows are ever the same. If you’ve ever seen one of his shows, then you’ll know exactly what we are talking about.

He’s played alongside some of the biggest names in the industry and soon will be one himself, his razor sharp wit, and fully off the cuff sets are legendary and envied by hundreds of acts across the national circuit. Now in his 5 th year with Grinstock. Make sure you don’t miss this incredible and talented comedian on your doorstep

What the Press have to say:

"Hicks has a sharp wit.. the pessimism of Jack Dee mixed with the deadpan aggression of Denis Leary. A rip roaring night of tough love from a witty comedian ****", Broadwaybaby.com

"Russell Hicks was a surprising highlight for me – American standup who wove wide-ranging improvisation and interaction with the crowd with deprecating jokes about American stereotypes and a wry swipe back at British culture... very funny.", Ashbourne Voice - Jul-2014

"Absolutely smashed it last night. What was most impressive is that he somehow managed to completely improvise for the entire 30 minutes, which I have never seen done before. I have worked in numerous different comedy venues and I have also never seen a comedian get a huge round of applause for simply leaving the green room, which Russell did. I believe he has a bright future in comedy with his unique talent to riff so well.", Bearcat

"It’s impressive to witness the fountain of verbal gold that comes out of the comedian.", NerdsDoItBetter

"a gift…very funny", Stand Up Talk

"Russell Hicks is Amazing", ADN

"He had us in stitches….nonstop laughs", NoFrillsThrills

MARTIN WRATTEN

Martin Wratten is an ex ice cream man from Eastbourne. At the height of his ice cream days he could make 3 Mr Whippies at once. However, those days are long gone. He is now So You Think You're Funny Semi Finalist 2016, and South Coast Comedian of the Year Winner 2017. Also won the Hasting newcomer of the year 2017. He’s going places fast and not in an ice cream van anymore, make sure you don’t miss him, he’s going to be huge.

"See Martin Wratten whilst you can. He's really going places and not in an ice cream van. Did us proud at Coastal Comedy." - Adrienne Coles, Coastal Comedy

THE MONKS

FINALISTS – NATYS 2017

Laying claim to being the only Christian comedy sketch group in the UK. As such, they not only do shows in clubs, pubs and small sweaty comedy rooms but also chapels, churches and small sweaty vestries. Following the sell out success of their 2013 fringe play ‘Hallelujah House’, The Monks have put together a new sketch show called ‘The All New Ten Commandments’.

Each of the commandments gets the comedy sketch treatment; some get more than one, making this perhaps one of the best value sketch comedy shows ever! Even penny pinching, backstabbing disciple Judas Iscariot would approve!

FINALISTS – NATYS 2017

FEATURED ACT – LONDON SKETCHFEST 2016

SEMI-FINALISTS – LEICESTER SQUARE THEATRE NEW COMEDIAN OF THE YEAR 2016

SEMI-FINALISTS – LEICESTER SQUARE THEATRE SKETCH OFF 2017

Headliner STEPHEN BAILEY

“Comedy Genius” – Fringe Guru

Stephen is a comedian, television personality and writer, whose friendly and open brand of gossipy humour has made him one of the most sought after acts in UK comedy today. He is 'annoyingly sharp' and audiences relate to his sassy style as he takes to the stage with 'fantastic natural wit and charisma'. A regular face on ITV's Weekend with Aled & Channel 5’s Big Brother’s Bit on the Side.

He is currently back on the road supporting Katherine Ryan on her Glitter Room tour and in 2018 will see Stephen travel the country with his own headline tour as he heads out with his five-star, critically-acclaimed show Stephen Bailey: Can’t Think Straight, which sees him through 35 cities.

He also guest hosted Sunday Takeover on Virgin Radio, featured on The Art's Show with Jonathan Ross on BBC Radio 2 and was named one of Attitude Magazine's Top 100 Bachelors of the Year.

A vocal supporter of LGBT rights, he regularly contributes articles to Attitude magazine and the Huffington Post, which made him the perfect choice to host Stonewall's 25th Anniversary Party and his recent interview for AOL Build about the LGBT movement, went viral.

As well as being a working-class, ginger, gay, northern comic, he is also a black belt in Tae Kwon-Do, has a degree in Languages AND loves a conspiracy theory (preferably involving a celebrity and a cucumber).
