The Larches are a sludge metal band emerging from the North East of England, known for their unmistakably fat, heavy sound and intense live presence. The bandconsists of George Moss (drums), Alfie Murphy (bass), Noah Annandale (vocals),Joel Hardwick (rhythm guitar), and Sonny Evans (lead guitar). Drawing influencefrom acts such as Acid Bath, Eyehategod, Soilent Green, and Pig Destroyer, TheLarches have carved out a distinctive take on sludge—blending blues-infused riffs, intricate songstructures, dissonant harmonies, and punishing breakdowns into asound that is both raw and deliberate. Since forming in 2023, the band have evolvedrapidly, shifting from their indie rock roots into the heavier, more abrasive territorythey now occupy. This progression is evident across their releases: Equilibriumintroduced a more groove-driven approach, while their double A-side Ego Death /The Skin I Live In pushed further into dense, feedback-soaked intensity. Their latesttrack, Defenestration Blues, delivers a sharp fusion of gritty blues and unfilteredhardcore energy. Their upcoming five-track EP will feature fan favourites such asDrought and Smother the Hero, with the band set to tour across the UK this summerin support of the release, hopefullywith a few festival appearances included.
