Deep in Aberdeenshire, on the coast of Stonehaven, is located one of the most stunning medieval ruins you will find anywhere in the world. Dunnottar Castle was built as a fortress and you will see why as soon as you get there. It is perched on a cliff surrounded by the North Sea and was home to the crown jewels when they came under attack from Oliver Cromwell and the English army in the 17th century. It has been used as a film set for the Disney film, Brave, and has a striking resemblance to many castle scenes from the "Game of Thrones".

From the castle, the trip continues to the Granite City. Aberdeen is the third largest city in Scotland famous for its granite architecture. You will get free time for lunch and self-guides to assist you in exploring the city.
