HotCakesFest II w/ General Levy, Ed Solo & Deekline, The Freestylers , + More

Brixton Jamm are proud to present the second annual edition of HotCakesFest, an almighty soundclash uniting the Hot Cakes, Hot Cakes Bass, Jungle Cakes and Gutter Gutter tribes as well as very special guests.

This year we are hugely proud to present a headliner whose standing in UK sound system culture has never been greater. General Levy represents the pinnacle of the current jungle revival and we’re delighted to announce he will be appearing for a very special exclusive session with Jungle Cakes head honchos Ed Solo & Deekline.

Deekline is known as a hero of the underground from the days of his Platinum-selling UK anthem I Don’t Smoke Da Reefer, and has picked up play and support from some of the biggest names in the business, DJs such as MistaJam and Annie Mac, on Radio 1 and 1Xtra, over the past year with tracks such as Got to Believe, Deepa and jungle anthem Good to Have the Feelin, with the legendary Tippa Irie.

Jungle Cakes head honcho Ed Solo is currently buried in his laboratory somewhere in subterranean Brighton and knee deep in downright dangerous frequencies, cooking up a relentless storm of dirty bass tracks for his first ever "Solo" album. Whipping together a white knuckle ride that spins through a eclectic range of styles, he's best known for work on dub heavy, raggamuffin jungle anthems such as Bad Boys (with Deekline) and his pitch-perfect reworkings of General Levy's The General and House of David Gang's Reggae Warrior (alongside Stickybuds).

Also returning to HotCakesFest are carnival-friendly radical rudeboys The Freestylers. Known for seminal breakbeat and jungle workouts like B-Boy Stance, Ruffneck, Warning and Painkiller, the Freestylers have recently teamed up with Deekline for releases on Jungle Cakes and are ready to blow the doors off all over again with their festival-friendly big room sound.

Ray Keith stepped in at the last minute at our Hot Cakes BBQ in the summer, and we've been determined to get him back ever since. No artist stands higher in the pantheon of jungle legends, and we're simply honoured to have him appear on our lineup.

New York jungle hero Liondub also needs no introduction for the true heads. An authentic product of Brooklyn, his musical mindset was formed at the crossroads of major international bass vibrations originating from Jamaica, NYC and the UK. Inspired by the global rhythm culture emanating from the streets beneath his feet, Liondub has spent a lifetime pounding that very pavement in pursuit of his passion for bottom-heavy beats.

Support in the main room comes Hot Cakes resident Jurassik and Manchester young gun Hypho, a major new player in UK Bass whose fearsome style trades off brazen grime riddims, lush garage interludes and dubbed out atmospherics with fearsome snatches of ragga energy.

Room two will be taken over by Dalston kids Eatmybeat, with Deekline also stepping up for an alternative bass music, breakbeat and garage set.
