To mark the 20th anniversary of MF DOOM’s debut record Operation Doomsday, Leeds’ 16 piece Abstract Orchestra return to the Jazz Cafe to perform some of the album's best loved cuts, alongside other classic DOOM material taken from across his sprawling back catalogue.
Doomsday was birthed at a pivotal point in rap’s trajectory, at the height of the record industry’s boom years. And for an album that introduced the Metal Face alter ego, it’s his warmest and most benevolent work, almost entirely bled of the angrier material that would mark future releases.
Named number 6 in Fact Magazine’s ‘100 Best Indie Hip-Hop Records of All Time’, and number 3 in Hip Hop Connection’s ‘100 Greatest Rap Albums 1995-2005’, we’re massively looking forward to Abstract’s unique performance of Operation Doomsday.
