BUSY B Records is proud to present SOFIE REED from Colorado USA. A dynamic, independent, international touring artist with a unique and soulful dulcimer based take on Roots / Blues and Americana music. Sofie's creative journey over three decades has seen her evolve as a vocalist, composer and as a unique musical visionary. Her dynamic soulful style is loved worldwide, and with four albums to her credit the time is ripe for her to be unleashed on UK audiences. Sofie's music encompasses roots-blues, folk-blues and Appalachian style with-a unique -dalecarlian (Swedish) -twist. Delivered with stunning artistry it regularly thrills audiences everywhere
Sofie left Ludvika, Sweden in 1987 at age eighteen and settled in Minneapolis where she freelanced solo in the local scene, until one of her clients, Sheila Charles, daughter of Ray Charles, hired her as a back-up singer. That pivotal encounter led Sofie to performing session work throughout the Twin Cities, and to live performances with her former husband, influential finger-style guitarist Preston Reed. Later Sofie moved to Colorado.
Chris Kresge of the Rocky Mountain Music Network said '..Sofie’s many experiences as a lone Swedish immigrant in a foreign culture have allowed her to create an intriguing and colorful story, reflected in her unique approach to music and performance.”
Sofie plays Mountain Dulcimer, Lap Steel, and stomps her foot on an old wooden wine box!. She is especially noted for playing Lee Oskar Harmonicas and, in the words of that renowned harmonica maker 'Sofie is a phenomenal one-woman band! Her sense of rhythm, phrasing and overall artistry make her one of the most interesting artists on the international music scene.'
