The HiFi Club & DJ Lubi presents... Sunday Joint - Young Soul Rebels showcase w/ Kaesu, Rosita & Oliver Rees

For the May Day Bank Holiday Sunday Joint session on 30th April, DJ Lubi has put together a great line-up of young soul rebels from Leeds - two brilliant hip-hop MCs plus a rising star neo-soul/r'n'b singer - to showcase the new talent breaking out right now from the underground.

KAESU is a young MC and poet in Leeds who's really starting to turn heads after dropping a series of great live videos and selling out his first ever headline live show in February. Fusing sounds of old school hip-hop and neo-soul, Kaesu is a storyteller who explores themes of love, fear, and introspection in his writing. His raw and emotive lyrics etched from real life experiences have amassed him a loyal social media following, built on the success of several videos which he began posting during the pandemic. With trusty DJ Alex FB on the decks, plus a live bass player and backing vocalist, this beats, rhymes and bass set rocks when played live. Come and witness another great "rising star" Leeds artist at the beginning of their musical career.

Up-and-coming UK soul artist ROSITA is already well on her way to breaking out to a wider national audience with a batch of single releases which showcase her vocal and songwriting abilities through her progressive discography. Originating from Gloucester, Rosita is now based in Leeds and is inspired by talents of many prodigious songstresses including H.E.R, Jazmine Sullivan and Ariana Grande. Each of their influences are audible in Rosita’s soulful, velvety style, as she blends the familiar with the unique, putting her own stamp on old-school R&B sounds. Rosita’s track ‘What I Deserve’, was featured on BBC Radio 1 & made ‘Track of the Week’ on Radio 1Xtra. This emerging artist’s inspiring nature and determination to succeed is flawlessly portrayed at such a young age (just 23), and sets her in great stead to make a name for herself amongst the UK R&B/soul scene. Rosita will be performing live with her full band.

OLIVER REES is a Birmingham-born fusion hip-hop artist residing in Leeds. His sound is typically defined by 1990's style boom-bap beats with multi-syllable and thought-provoking lyricism blended with classic soul and jazz sampling. And at times, his music is fused with Hendrix-inspired guitar licks (he is a phenomenal self-taught jazz fusion guitarist). His recent single "Long Walks" got much love on radio from both BBC 1Xtra and BBC Introducing. Oliver will be joined onstage by Bassy, a multi-genre DJ/producer from Loughborough with strong roots in the region's house and hip-hop scenes. Having fulfilled a plethora of club residencies across Europe including Newcastle, Ibiza, Méribel, Sunny Beach and more, Bassy currently captains a number of events in the East Midlands.

Remember, Sunday Joint now starts at 7:00pm sharp. Oliver Rees will be onstage at 7.30pm, Rosita at 8.15pm and Kaesu at 9pm.
