Ever have to speak in public or present in a meeting and feel like the world is about to cave in?
Public speaking is a necessary part of many jobs these days but we don't often get the opportunity to do the rehearsal or learn techniques to make the process of creating and delivering the speech fun.
This course is designed to help you feel better equipped when having to stand in front of people and deliver. Whether you're preparing a TED Talk or preparing to present an idea to your team this course is aimed at all levels.
We'll look at:
standing and speaking in front of people with confidence vocal technique to articulate words and ideas effectively posture and presentation structuring your speech and making an impact tailoring speeches for different audiences Tackling fear and nerves
There will be an opportunity to gain one to one feedback and prepare and present a speech or short presentation to try out on a supportive audience.
The session will be led by actor and trainer Kate Gilbert who has been a teacher and performer for over fifteen years and has acted at the Royal Exchange, Contact Theatre and Manchester International Festival among others. Kate is also a LAMDA Speech and Drama teacher, with outstanding results. She has written and produced plays and is co-artistic director of The Script Sessions and Duckdown Theatre.
