Still riding the buzz from an unreal night last night with Chris Simmonds, next month we go again… 🔥

Cosmic Sessions: HOUSEWERK
w/ Soul Soup Records
Adam Be & Neil Matthews

  • support from BUFS & Johny 5
    (Jackin’, Funky, Classic, Chunky House)

HOUSEWERK is our monthly dancefloor gathering taking place every second Saturday at Cosmic Kitchen. A night built around jackin’, Chicago , deep and classic house sounds — deep grooves, infectious rhythms and proper feel-good energy from start to finish.

For the next session we’re welcoming Soul Soup Records’ Adam Be & Neil Matthews behind the controls alongside BUFS & FIV, bringing a selection of funky, groove-led house music made for the dancefloor.

Expect intimate vibes, warm energy, serious tunes and a room full of good people all locked into the music together. Nothing forced, nothing flashy — just quality house music in the way it should be.

If you were with us last time, you already know the vibe… 🪩

Soul Soup Records was born from a chance meeting between its two founders, Adam Be and Neil Matthews, at one of Adam’s parties in Manchester. What started as a spontaneous encounter quickly developed into a strong friendship, rooted in a shared passion for underground house music, vinyl culture, and the dancefloor. From that connection, Soul Soup Records emerged as both a record label and DJ collective, reflecting their combined histories and vision.

Based in Manchester, Soul Soup Records is dedicated to showcasing fresh and diverse electronic music while staying firmly connected to the underground roots of house. The label’s sound spans house, nu-disco, jackin’ house, garage, deep house, and electronica - alongside records that blur genre boundaries. At its core, Soul Soup is about authenticity, musical depth, and providing a platform for both emerging and established artists who embody the spirit of underground dance music.

Neil Matthews brings over three decades of experience from Manchester’s rich clubbing heritage. Beginning his DJ journey in 1995, he played a key role during the city’s golden era, performing at iconic venues such as The Boardwalk, Paradise Factory, Music Box, and Sankeys Soap. After a 15-year hiatus, he returned in 2020 with renewed focus and energy, now holding residencies and co-running Soul Soup Records. Known for his deep, uncompromising selections, Neil has shared the booth with respected artists including Atjazz, Danny Howells, A Guy Called Gerald, Jon Dasilva, and Groove Assassin, and continues to bridge the gap between Manchester’s legacy and its future.

Adam Be’s journey into music was shaped by an early love of hip hop and vinyl, drawing inspiration from artists like Gang Starr and A Tribe Called Quest. This foundation sparked his appreciation for jazz, funk, and groove-led house music. His clubbing experiences at renowned nights such as Back2Basics, The Bomb!, and Sankeys Soap led him to promote his own underground parties in the late ’90s and early 2000s. Influenced by the US West Coast, Chicago house, and Nottingham’s deep house scene, Adam has built a reputation as both a DJ and promoter, sharing lineups with artists including the Inland Knights, Jason Hodges, Eddie Leader and James Holroyd among others.

Together, Adam and Neil channel their combined experience, taste, and dedication into Soul Soup Records - a label that celebrates the past, present, and future of underground electronic music while staying true to its roots.
