Papa Shango

Papa Shango are a wild, twelve-piece live beast delivering massive, eccentric rock shows complete with backing singers and dancers. They have brought their theatrical, high-energy spectacle to massive festivals like Glastonbury and Boomtown, supporting iconic acts like Skunk Anansie and Black Grape.

Their eclectic sound—best described as a heavier version of The Darkness mixed with Rage Against the Machine and The Flaming Lips—has earned them serious critical acclaim. As NME put it, “The internet killed live music…Papa Shango are saving it.”Beyond their outrageous stage presence, they are backed by serious musical pedigree. Bassist Papa Ryan was George Ezra’s college music teacher, helping shape the chart-topping hit "Shotgun."

To experience their unmatched, circus-like energy for yourself, look no further than Time Out’s ultimate review: “Just go and watch, incredible.”
