Singer Songwriter Liam McClair delves deeper into Fame as a topic and unearths the impact it can have. With a headline launch gig booked for Sound Control Basement on the 19th May and on the same night Fame will go live on all platforms. Inspired by Neil Young and Led Zeppelin; Fame sees a more Indie/Rock tone to McClair’s music prompting the use of a more rock based studio in Salford, Noiseboys. The song has proven an instant hit at previous live shows particularly at The Isle Of Wight Festival 2016. Fame explores very relevant and current themes in our climate of gossip columns and with the line between fame and infamy being ever thinner what better time for the single to be released.
Known for his warm music and having previously written about personal experiences and topics close to his heart, Liam McClair wanted to analyse a broader topic in society and a big and growing phenomena is fame. Why is it sought after? Why are we so focused on it? Liam talks of his first-hand experience with famous people:
‘‘As an academy player for Manchester United in my teens I got to meet some of the most famous people in football at the time, also through my career I’ve met and supported famous musicians, they were all very grounded and normal so it got me thinking about the different ways that fame can affect people. ’
Fame comes after the success of the single Hunted and the Honest EP that both charted in the iTunes Songwriter Charts. Honest reaching 7 on the album chart and Hunted at 24 on the Singles chart. UK tour’s followed each release and a headline tour of Germany was a highlight of 2016 as well as a performance at Kendal Calling. Liam has been supported by BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing in Manchester:
"Emotive songs, sublime voice and Captivating performer, a stand out artist for us at BBC Introducing” Natalie & Michelle, BBC Introducing in Manchester
“A genuinely gifted songwriter who matches the depth of his writing with the passion in his voice” Chris Hawkins, BBC 6 Music
Liam has been collecting fans in the Manchester music community ever since he started performing in 2014, notably Clint Boon formerly of the Inspiral Carpets and Radio X:
'Talent and his charisma completely belie his age, his sound immediately reminded me of a young Elvis Presley' Clint Boon
