Damp Matches are making their long awaited debut at Space Studios with support from the formidable Amongst Strangers.
With a unique mash-up of alt-rock, trash-hop and anthemic indie, Damp Matches’ sound would be as at home at a stadium concert as it is in a grimy small town mosh-pit. Think the moody
snarl of Queens of the Stone Age poured over the scratchy stylings of Bloc Party and early Arctic Monkeys, fronted by Hayley Williams if she was trained from birth by Jeff Buckley and
Thom Yorke. Big, punchy riffs and thunderous drum lines set the backdrop for front-woman
Helena Lewis’ soaring vocals, complimented on occasion by the grimy growls of bassist
Will Calvert. Having built a reputation for putting on raucous and high-energy shows,
they are definitely ones to watch on the UK rock circuit.
with support from punk slammers Amongst Strangers you’d be crazy to miss this one.
